This above, is the pathway leading from the garden of the beach house, to the private strip of beach and the sea beyond .....
The fishing boat which belongs to the house is called "The Black Pearl" and is a traditional wooden dhow fishing boat - only this one has a motor, and life jackets ! Each morning during our stay, my Dad and my husband would go out deep sea fishing (well, as deep into the sea as you can get in a motorized dhow boat !) I opted to stay on dry land with my daughter as boats and fishing are not really my thing, and I felt she was a little too young to go out with her Daddy into the wide blue ocean (especially with no back up life saving or medical services for miles around !)
Hoisting the sails up - hard work but the boat crew are experienced and make it seem so effortless .....
On one of the fishing trips, they went to an uninhabited island (above) where the waters ran into each other in different shades of blue & green - just like a rainbow of the deep ..... many of these small areas have been declared conservation areas and an effort is being made to preserve the existing marine life & underwater habitats. No fishing is allowed in this area either, and my husband & father witnessed a police boat arresting 2 people who were caught fishing illegally nearby.

The boat crew do a fine job - the crew member sitting on the mast area is called a "spotter" as he looks out for fish. Oh yes, my darling hubby & Dad apparently caught one HUGE fish the first day, but it somehow slipped away before they could reel it in ? My Mum and I never quite believed that story and as we really wanted to eat some local fish, you'll see what we did in order to get some in tomorrow's post !
