Following on from Thursday's post - yes, we did make it safely to the other side of the Pangani River (if I still smoked I would've smoked a couple on the ride over though !) We made it to the beautiful private beach house which we always stay at on our trips to the coast - isn't it lovely ?
Dhow wood had been used throughout the house (dhows are local wooden fishing boats found all along the East African coastline) & I especially love this old Dhow which has been used as a container for plants ! It sits underneath the windows of one of the downstairs bedrooms.
This was the view my husband & I had from our bedroom on the top floor - the beach starts where the coconut trees end ....
A quiet spot on the upper deck where you could read a book - or take a little nap in the midday heat !
The main living area on the top deck, the dining area is just behind it & this is where we ate supper each night - it was cool there with a nice sea breeze coming in.
On Monday I'll post all about the fishing trips and the boat which belongs to the house - another adventure which included a trip to a tiny uninhabited island and deep green, aqua and blue waters all mixed together .....
