Internet Woes !

We’re having internet problems out here in the wilds of Africa. Our ISP informs me that our satellite dish is only running at a 59% signal strength. Which is not good at all.

It has been set off balance over time by weather – high winds & heavy rain - and they have to send a ‘fundi’ (technician) out to re-align the dish with special equipment, before our signal is restored (this has happened one time before). As Monday is a Public Holiday here (Zanzibar Revolution Day) & soon after we are leaving the farm for the rest of the week, the only time a ‘fundi’ can come out will be the week after next.

In the meantime we are offline for most of the day, with only snippets of connection for 10 minutes (maximum) or so at a time here and there and mostly at night. Luckily I managed the other night (took me hours !) to pre-publish blog posts until Tuesday next week, just incase we lose our signal completely in the meantime.

So, I have no idea how long our signal will last & if I suddenly drop off the face of the (blogging) earth for a few days, you’ll know why ! In the meantime, publishing & replying to your comments is delayed & sometimes impossible, as is replying to emails and browsing and commenting on other blogs.

It’s not nice, I can tell you, especially when your computer is your ONLY source of contact with the outside world. (Well, aside from satellite TV) But bear with me, I’ll be back soon and until Tuesday at least, there’ll be blog posts publishing every day !
