The view from my office window which I look out on each day as I sit & type my blog up (mountain foothills above the banana trees are not visible in this photo)
Bye for now .... the arch & pathway as you leave our house ....
When you read this, I won’t be sitting, as usual, in my little home office overlooking the banana trees in my garden with majestic Mt. Kilimanjaro beyond. Oh no …. I will be high, high up in the sky somewhere above the continent of Africa, on a ‘plane headed for Johannesburg, South Africa.
We like to do things on the spur of the moment – so last week we decided that instead of taking a short break between planting and harvesting and driving across the border to the bustling city of Nairobi in the neighbouring country of Kenya, we’d hop on a ‘plane and fly across the continent to South Africa instead, to visit my parent’s for a while … (my daughter has a 2 month school holiday break now, too ...)
My daughter and I left this morning before daybreak - and my husbandtears himself away from the farm joins us at the end of next week. Then we will all fly back together a week later. So, I’ll be gone for around 3 weeks in all. But don’t worry, I’ll be keeping up with my blog posts … as I have scheduled posts (blogger have a snazzy new system where you can pre schedule posts to publish on certain days) that will 'miraculously' appear at 11 am Tanzanian time every second day whilst I am away … although I must admit that I do feel like I am cheating a bit by doing this … because I love to blog my ‘live’ news daily … or post recipes that are still cooling in the kitchen as I type ! (But, I suppose pre scheduled posts are better than nothing ….?)

When I can, I may post 'live' from South Africa on the days in between my scheduled posts, just to let you know what I'm getting up to on the other side of the African continent .... whatever happens, I will be taking lots of photo's whilst I'm away and when I get back, I'll fill you in on all my adventures !
So, comment moderation/publishing will be a little slower than usual as will my replies to all the lovely emails I get from readers … but I will eventually get around to replying, I promise !
In case you were wondering, I’ve left Justin at the helm and have stocked up on enough dog and cat food to keep everybody well fed in my absence (& a freezer full of pre cooked meals for my husband until he joins us) ….. so it’s bye bye from me for now, and I’ll be back again soon …..
