Oh wow, I have been honoured to receive another 3 awards for my blog in the past couple of weeks. Thank you everyone for giving these to me, I really appreciate the recognition from my fellow bloggers ! Some of these awards have to be passed on to up to 10 other blogs but as we all know, that can take up a lot of time (& linking !) so I have chosen to just award 2 each. Hope that’s okay & that you understand, it’s not that there are a lack of great blogs out there – only a lack of time !
I have also been tagged with 3 Meme’s (as in “Me ! Me ! It’s all about Me !”) Well I don’t usually do Meme’s but thought that this time I would, seeing as I’ve had so many sent my way lately and as it so happens, all 3 of these Meme’s sent to me are the same, so I’m killing 3 birds with 1 stone here ! (Hope it’s okay to combine all 3 into 1, but I doubted you’d be interested in reading 18 random facts about me, as each one asked for 6 !)
So, first of all I want to thank Linda from “Remote Treechanger” for awarding me the “Butterfly Award – for the coolest blog I know”. This award is given to blogs described as "a friendly place to visit, offering an insight into their daily lives, sharing their pictures, recipes and family life. Reading their blogs is like reading a good magazine."
The rules for this award are -:
Put the logo on your blog
Add a link to the person who awarded you
Nominate 10 other blogs for this award (I’m nom
Add links to those blogs
Leave a message for your nominees on their blogs
Give a reason why you consider their blogs cool
I am going to pass this “Butterfly Award” along to the following 2 blogs -:

I am going to pass this “Butterfly Award” along to the following 2 blogs -:
My dear Expat friend, Dedene, who lives in France and who's new blog "Soyes la Bienvenue Chez Moi" offers a fascinating glimpse into her life there. (We've been online friends for years though have never met in person !) Dedene always shoots straight from the hip, which is one of the things I really like about her !
Lori at "The Skoog Farm Journal" because not only is she one of the most avid bloggers I know, but she gives us all such a wonderful insight into her day-to-day life & chores which I find fascinating, & always a nice place to escape to !
I also received the “Hot Blog Award” from Marie at “A Colorful World” (thanks so much for this, Marie !) & I am passing this on to these 2 great Bloggers-:
AKMom at "What's Baking ?" - a talented Alaskan Mom who bakes the most incredible treats - I only recently discovered her blog & find it so inspiring (not to mention mouthwatering !) that now I'm hooked !
Linda from "Remote Treechanger" because I love reading about her daily life in another remote corner of the world, not to mention her great weekly menu plans !
Then Jenny from “Backwoods Wife” awarded me the “Kreativ Blogger Award” (thanks so much, Jenny !) & in order to accept, I have to post 6 random things about me (which will also be my Meme below) and pass the award on to 6 fellow bloggers (I’ve chosen 2, just due to time issues !) I’m passing it on to these 2 great bloggers -:

Nancy from "A Recipe A Day"
Peggy from "Organic Growing Pains"
I'm passing the Meme on to these 2 great bloggers above as I've been reading them both for sometime now & I admit, I'm nosey and would like to learn more about you both ;) I will also combine this with the 2 Meme's below, as they are all identical - hope that's okay !
Linda from “Remote Treechanger” & Ewa from “Ewa in the Garden” also tagged me with a Meme (thanks Linda and Ewa for this !), here are the rules -:
Link to the person who tagged you
Post the rules on your blog
Write six random things about yourself
Tag six people at the end of your post and link to them

Okay, so here are the 6 random facts about me, for the above 3 Meme/tags -:
I am the daughter of a British father and a Zambian mother, I am Rhodesian by birth yet have no citizenship in that country – instead I am a British citizen with South African permanent residency & Tanzanian residency, South African identification documents and a British passport. Whenever I land at Heathrow the customs people there say to me “Welcome Home !” and this always amuses me, especially since they usually also comment on my “Australian” accent !
I am a night owl and never go to bed before 12.30 am. I am at my most productive at night. I am moody and irritable in the mornings (don’t talk to me then !), and would sleep until 11.00 am each day if I could !
I have in the past, been involved with serious online campaigns and petitions against pedophilia and child internet pornography. I am paranoid about the power of the internet vs. child abductions/exploitation which is why you will never find photo’s, personal references or my daughter’s name on my blog ! Do I want a potential online child abduction ring to know what my daughter looks like, what her likes/dislikes are, where she goes to school, where we live & go on holiday’s & when ? Do I want to expose her as a potential abduction target ? Do I want to have her photograph downloaded & “Doctored” & used goodness knows where ? No thanks, nothing is worth that risk !
My biggest regret in life was waiting until my early 30’s to start a family. (And realizing then, that it was not as simple as just “falling pregnant” or staying pregnant, for that matter.) However, my greatest joy in life is my daughter – it was definitely worth the wait !
I love smoking & smoked 30 + cigarettes a day for 14 years. I gave up almost 5 years ago when I fell pregnant with my daughter. I still miss it every day, although I would never start smoking again, I don’t object to people smoking around me & in fact, when in a restaurant (‘cause here we can still smoke in most public places !) I deliberately position myself near smoking tables so that I can inhale – and enjoy – the second hand smoke – aren’t I terrible ?!
I was brought up to treat people of all colour with equal respect, & to stand up for others who cannot stand up for themselves - I truly believe & live my life according to this principal. I really struggled as a young adult living in South Africa under the apartheid regime. I worked amongst displaced Malawian citizens and poverty struck South Africans, & was scathingly labeled a “crusader for the blacks” (although I was proud of this fact). I also turned state witness in a court case against my (white) boss who had been abusing (black) colleagues, which made national news headlines at the time (I leaked the story to the press). I was proud of all I achieved there, yet this is one of the reasons why I could never settle, or feel comfortable living in, South Africa. (Despite what you may hear, apartheid is still alive & well in many places there.) I truly despise people who judge others according to the colour of their skin, & who treat them with disrespect because they consider themselves superior because their skin is white ! (Unfortunately we have many of these people here in East Africa, too – fortunately, they are in the minority.)
So, there you have it – my 6 random facts ! I love reading other people’s Meme’s as it gives me a quick snapshot view of that person, perhaps things you wouldn’t normally ask or guess about a person … mine were a bit long but then that’s me, I always tend to ‘beat around the bush’ !
